Released in 1999 as Cummins' replacement for the L10/M11 lineage, the ISL8.9 is built on a stroked version of the 8.3L C-series block rather than the original L10 architecture, giving it a better power-to-weight ratio; in China it is produced by Dongfeng Cummins (DCEC) for trucks and buses. This variant delivers 375hp (280kW) with 1550N.m of torque, an Euro III-tier tune for heavy Dongfeng trucks and buses.
